On the 20th and 21st March 2020 we are organising some free activities for an event entitled “Brain in movement, the joys and challenges of the Feldenkrais Method™”.
Contrary to what was previously thought science has now proved that the brain is plastic and that it can change in positive ways throughout our lives. So what goes on in our brain when we learn? What happens when we develop new skills or habits deemed “good” or “bad”? What role does brain plasticity play in the practice of the Feldenkrais Method™?
Moshé Feldenkrais (1904-1984) developed his innovative approach to the study of movement long before the notion of neuroplasticity was widely accepted yet he developed strategies to bring about a particular type of learning that would facilitate change.
Through working with people of all ages he discovered very early on that given the right conditions we can increase our ability to learn new skills, improve movement difficulties, overcome injury and chronic pain, reduce anxiety and change compulsive behaviors.

The Sounder Sleep System™ is a method of natural self-regulation for sleep disturbances. It uses simple techniques that restore the natural breath, help you to counteract the influence of stress during the day, and induce sleep at night-time or when you wake up during the night.
The exercises that we practice consist of a variety of very small, slow movements of the hands or fingers synchronized with the breathing. They are easy to learn and integrate into daily life.

Join us for the presentation, film and discussion.

Salle de danse (6th floor):
Participate in, or observe and discuss four different Feldenkrais classes.
Discover some of the strategies Feldenkrais used to promote learning and bring about change in different ways.
10am: Real or imagined movement, what does the brain make of it?
11.30am: Fine motor skills, increasing your dexterity or recovering lost movement.
1.45pm: Improving balance and asymmetry.
3pm: Reducing stress and anxiety, gaining self confidence, being more than the sum of your parts.
Wear warm comfortable clothes and socks for class.
The activities are led by Feldenkrais Practitioners Sharon Munro and Kai Schaper. You will be greeted by members of the Association Movement Refinery.
